Welcome to our Practice

Thank you for visiting our practice website. As a specialist periodontal and oral medicine practice, we are geared towards treating a wide spectrum of advanced periodontal, oral medicine and dental implant related conditions. These procedures include a range of services such as non-surgical periodontal therapy, surgical periodontal therapy, periodontal plastic surgery, surgical dental implant placement, advanced bone grafting, sinus grafting procedures, ridge preservation techniques, oral biopsies and many more. In addition, many of the procedures we carry out are done so using conscious sedation and electronic delivered local anaesthesia, thereby ensuring a pleasant experience for those anxious individuals.

Dr Thabit Peck is a dual trained specialist in the fields of both Oral Medicine and Periodontics. Having qualified as a general dentist in 2000, he achieved South African Dental Association Medals for top achiever in Oral Medicine and Periodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative Dentistry and Oral Pathology. This was complimented by achieving top award for Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

After spending some time refining his clinical skills in private practice in both the Netherlands and South Africa, he entered into the Oral Medicine and Periodontics specialist training program in 2008. In 2010, Dr Peck become the first South African trained periodontist to have successfully completed the specialist MRD examination in Periodontics from the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. This was later complimented by being elected a Fellow of the Royal College in recognition of his clinical achievements. Based on his extensive teaching experience (Human Anatomy, Oral Microbiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Oral Medicine and Periodontics) and involvement in academia, in 2017 Dr Peck was elected a member of The Faculty of Dental Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (One of less than 200 internationally elected members).

Dr Peck’s training was further enhanced by participating in a number of advanced international courses in Ascot UK (Botox), Ireland (Implantology), Netherlands (Periodontology), Iceland (Implantology), Germany (Bone augmentation), and Italy (Advanced periodontal regeneration). He regularly lectures to general dentists and specialists both in South Africa and abroad and is employed as a consultant specialist at the largest dental school in South Africa. Dr Peck is an examiner for the College of Dentistry of South Africa, co-ordinates the MSc Periodontics program and the Postgraduate Diploma In Implantology at UWC, a journal reviewer for a number of international dental journals, and an accredited speaker for The International Team for Implantology. He has authored more than 20 peer reviewed scientific journal articles, including a book chapter and is a PhD candidate in the field of medical biosciences.

Dr Peck currently carries out complex periodontal and implant surgical therapy using the latest techniques including Platelet Rich Fibrin, Dentin Grafting, Laser soft tissue surgery, CAD Cam implant surgery, in house 3D Printing and 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography. He works together as part of a multidisciplinary dental specialist group that consists of an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, a Prosthodontist and a Periodontist to effect a positive treatment outcome for challenging dental cases.
